We all have as much of God as we want.

The law is for the self-righteous, to humble their pride:
the gospel is for the lost, to remove their despair.

How often we look upon God as our last and feeblest
resource! We go to him because we have nowhere else to go.

And then we learn that the storms of life have driven us,

not upon the rocks, but into the desired haven.
... George MacDonald (1824-1905)

I've seen so many people struggle with identity too. I think the problem is that we are basing our identity on all of the wrong things. We are choosing to be solely identified by our accomplishments, by our jobs, by our children, by spouses, by our homes, and on and on it goes. We are quick to substitute temporary identities for our TRUE identity which is or should be a child of God. A beloved disciple. Formed uniquely in our mother's womb.

Your path led through the sea,
your way through the mighty waters,
though your footprints were not seen. Ps 77

i'm feeling discontent...and selfish...

but the real problem is that i don't want to do anything about it.

We have to take captive the negative thoughts and retrain them to think the way Christ would think.

Maybe in the times when I’m dissatisfied with my life and particularly my faith, it’s because I’m not receiving all that God wants me to receive. Maybe. Probably.

Jesus loves me, this I know - the baby Jesus, the adult Jesus, especially the jesus in my heart.

For the bible tells me so.

I didn't remember much about my grandmother, she died when I was three.. Just puffy ankles, her salt and pepper shaker collection and the aprons she wore. I wear her initial ring in memory of my dad. Her name was Alice.

If the ordinary canons of history, used in every other
case, hold good in this case, Jesus is undoubtedly an
historical person.

If he is not an historical person, the only
alternative is that there is no such thing as history at all--
it is delirium, nothing else; and a rational being would be
better employed in the collection of snuff-boxes.

And if
history is impossible,

so is all other knowledge.

... T. R. Glover (1869-1943)

Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get -

only with what you are expecting to give -

which is everything.

You made me bold and stouthearted.

By afflictions, God is spoiling us - taking away from
us what otherwise might have spoiled us. When He makes the
world too hot for us to hold, we let it go.

quiet tension is not trust. it is simmply compressed anxiety. too often we think we are trusting when we are merely controlling our panic. true faith gives not only a calm exterior but a quiet heart.
